Top 5 scary movies to watch this Halloween (final)

This is it students! The moment is here, the scariest movie ever!

Number 1: The Ring

The Ring!   Even the name is creepy!  The Ring is like Paranormal Activity plus the grudge and a hit of saw combines. The Ring is a movie you don’t want to watch alone; once you see it you never want to see it again. This movie is about a tape that was found by a woman that works as a reporter. She sees the tape and a strange call told her that she was going to die in seven days. She didn’t know that every day she faced something that she saw in the tape. Now she is trying to find out how to stop the person who is trying to kill her. But what she doesn’t know is that the killer is already dead!

For more information, see this movie!  It will make a mess in your pants!

DECA trip to De Vry University

By Sandybel Cedeno, Class of 2013

The trip to De Vry University was a great experience for us DECA members where we practiced some roles on what we will be doing for the upcoming regional competitions.  We had some wonderful workshops where we learned more about professionalism and what to wear and what not to wear at an interview and even at the work place. We were able to speak to other students in DECA and socialize.

For the DECA role plays, we basically get a topic that we will be working on and need to know about. When we got to De Vry, they separated everyone based on their chosen role play topics and we had a certain amount of time to read the problem given to you. We then had to prepare a plan and get ready to present in front of our judge. Some of us worked alone and others had a partner. It’s an overall wonderful experience when you have to layout ideas and market plans.  We learned a lot to prepare us for the real competitions.

The trip was wonderful because at the end everyone got a tour around the De Vry campus and we learned about certain classes and saw their computer labs. The people giving the tours knew answers to everything which was convenient; no one had to go around asking a lot of different people questions. The campus was great and I think it is perfect for a person who likes to be around a small environment and small classes.

I can’t wait for our regional competitions!

Top 5 scary movies to watch this Halloween (continued)

Everyone get ready because personally, I think the next movie is the scariest movie of all time.

Number 2: Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity will keep you on the edge of your seat!  This movie is not just scary, it is really scary, like it was real. Paranormal Activity should be number one, but I guess it is number two this decade.   Paranormal Activity is about a couple that has been getting weird things in their house. The couple decides to put cameras around the house to see what is happening. Each night they get something out of the ordinary like foot steps, doors opening, noises, and the feeling of someone watching.  Later they find out that it is a demon looking for something; what would it be?  But later in the movie they find out that the demon gets stronger every night. Now the couple are looking for a way get rid of the demon ghost that is hunting them.

For more details see the movie! Really, see the movie and tell me how  you feel about it.   Also look at Paranormal Activity 2 and 3 and tell me what it resembles and who the demon ghost is and what he is after.

Get ready teachers and students a new one is coming!

number 3: saw

Saw is one of the most scariest and shocking movies ever! This movie is like a maze, you think you know what’s going to happen but all of a sudden BANG!  Something unexpected happens.

The movie starts off with two men that were trapped mysteriously in a bathroom. As they were trying to figure out what was happening, the police force is trying to find a mysterious killer that has killed people in horrible ways. What the police find out is that the killer is taking people and put them in a survival game.  Meanwhile in the bathroom, the men start finding out what happened and they also find more things about each other.  But they also find out that they don’t have enough time because they find a tape that said that they had a specific time to live. Now the men are trying to escape and hope that the police will find them.

Top 5 scary movies to watch this Halloween (continued)

By Samuel Vargas, Class of 2015

Like I said before, Chiller TV has chosen 5 of the most scariest movies of all time and put them in a list of the most scariest movies of the decade. I already told you number 5, now is time for the next one:

Number four: The Mist

The mist is a movie of excitement, horror, and sadness. A thunderstorm just hit the small town of Shreveport; a man named David Drayton and his son Billy went to the market to get some stuff. But when a mysterious mist hit the town, everyone got trapped inside the store.  Later, the people discovered that there were things in the mist, things undescribable, things that are not from this world.

Since the store is the only shelter for the people, they decide to protect the store with their lives, but what they don’t know is that a woman named Mrs. Carmody is creating a small group of followers to follow her and god to survival.  But another group of people thinks that she is crazy and decides to get out of there.

To learn more, see the movie!   It has a shocking ending!

Add a comment below and tell me how  you feel about the ending.

Top 5 scary movies to watch this Halloween

By Samuel Vargas, Class of 2015

According to Chiller TV, the scariest movies of all time are:

NUMBER 5: 28 days later

28 days later is  about a disease from a monkey that was spread into the city of London.  28 days after it was spread, a man woke up in the hospital with no memory at all.  The man (Cillian Murphy) found himself lost in London.   There he meets two people, a woman (Naomie Harris) and another man, whose name is not mentioned, where they will help him find a way out. On their journey they meet a father with his daughter(Brendan Gleeson) (Megan Buns) which they also need help to get out, but after they found what they were looking for, they noticed that something was wrong.

For more details you have to see the movie!

My opinion is that it is not scary at all; Dawn of the Dead was way scarier!

Stay tuned for our next posts thorughout the upcoming weeks! Halloween is almost here!

Students and classroom rules

By Samuel Vargas, Class of 2015

As soon as you step into any classroom, there are rules you have to respect.  However, at George Washington High School, those rules are often broken. From the people that sleep in class, to the use of phones and ipods during class, students break every single rule in the book.

For students, it is a dream come true, where students get to do anything they want when they are in class. I haven seen everything happening in this high school, and I just started here, but what I have seen  is off the scale.

I have seen students sleeping in almost all of my classes; students listen to music at a very loud volume; students talk on their phones during class; students interrupt in the middle of the lesson; I can go on forever.  What really grinds my gears is that the teachers see the students breaking the rules, but all she/he say is “stop” or “put it down,” she/he is not actually doing anything about it to stop the behavior.   The students just keep doing the same thing.

What I’m trying to say is that this high school needs someone to tell the students not to break the classroom rules or there will be consequences. When I was in Florida, schools had the same rules and the same disciplinary actions, but the students were scared of breaking the rules because they knew the consequences of breaking them.  In Florida,  you will not see students using a phone or an ipod, nor will you see anyone sleeping during class.  Here, students seem to have no fear of breaking the rules or getting punished for it, which apperantly never happens.

So what is George Washington High School going to do about this problem?
